Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is one of the important components in Chinese medicine for prevention and treatment of diseases.
Botanical resources, such as barks, seeds, flowers, roots, or mineral substances, are prescribed and administered in the form of decoctions (where herbs are boiled in water), pills, washing lotions or ointments for conditions diagnosed by Chinese herbal medicine practitioners. Effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbal medicine for various conditions such as atopic eczema have been well evaluated through systematic reviews. Recently, the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 2015 was awarded to a Chinese pharmacologist You You Tu for her discoveries concerning a novel therapy against malaria. The novel therapy uses Artemisinin extracted from the Chinese herb Herba Artemisiae Annuae (Qing Hao), which has been used for treatment for malaria for hundreds of years in Chinese medicine practice.
Appropriate formula prescriptions based on accurate differential diagnosis can only be made by qualified TCM physicians such as Dr Philip Qing Lu. It is important to consult a qualified TCM physician to help you select the most appropriate formula.
Lu's Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic provides TGA-approved concentrated herbal granules and herbal patent pills for your convenience. Concentrated herbal granules have no smell and save the time (while cooking is involved when raw herbs are used).
